

Patkós Csárda Motel and Campground, is at the “western gate” of the Hortobágy National Park, eight km/4.8 miles from Tiszafüred on Highway 33. The csárda has bungalows and apartments, with doubles, including a bathroom and TV in each room. The csárda is over 250 years old, still sporting thatched roofs. The accommodations are a bit close to the stables, but the restaurant serves Hungarian dishes, with gypsy music. A weekend special at this writing includes three days and two nights in three-to six-person groups, at 36,000 HUF. The package includes full board. Individually, meals will average about 5,000 HUF.
Riding lessons can be had for 3,000 HUF per person.
Although this place is be available for lodging, the flies are a menace in the area, since this is a farm! A far better choice would be to stay at the nearby Hableany Hotel and come to the ranch for a day excursion if you are not on a tour. The weekend program starts on Friday, with an assessment of your riding level, followed by a short tour (six to eight km/three-five miles) of the Lake Tisza area.
Anyone interested can try team driving! On Saturday you ride through the Egyek-Pusztakócsi marshes (30 km/19 miles), visit the Csárda Museum, the Black Marsh Nature Trail, the Górés Farm for Predatory Birds Repatriation Center and the Jusztus Mangalica Pig Reserve. On Sunday you travel along the Tisza (30 km/19 miles), crossing creeks and viewing the natural wonders on horseback.
